Art Institute of Austin shuttering Round Rock campus in 2020, relocating to Bastrop

The Art Institute of Austin will shutter operations in Round Rock in June 2020 and move to Bastrop with the first classes offered at the new campus in the summer quarter of that year, the school system’s chancellor and Bastrop city officials confirmed to the Bastrop Advertiser on Wednesday. Claude Brown, chancellor of the institute’s school system, said the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, the regional accreditor of public and private institutions of higher learning, has accepted the institute’s request for relocation and approval is expected “in the near future.” “We’re moving the campus,” Brown told the Advertiser on Wednesday. “There’s going to be an opportunity for students in the Bastrop area and South and East Austin that perhaps didn’t want to make the trip to Round Rock to give the Art Institute a look and consideration.”
